How I Started Alphazenitude and My Podcast
Long before I became an entrepreneur, I dreamed of exploring the world when looking at planes in the sky. Over the past ten years, I’ve overcome countless challenges, which have all led me to where I am today: the founder of my own business, Alphazenitude, and the host of my very own podcast, The Nudistpod.
These ventures are so much more than business decisions. They’re manifestations of my biggest passions and a refection of my values: connection, wellness and self-love. If you want to know how I started Alphazenitude and my podcast, keep reading.
My journey began in Belgium…
First, I need to tell you my story. I grew up and attended college in Belgium, studying Marketing & Communication. This was one of the best times of my life because every day, I got to nurture my love for storytelling and connecting with people. Whether I was delivering presentations to hundreds of people or blending marketing insights with poetry to touch the public, I felt right at home. Those moments on stage were electrifying and only hinted at what my future would hold.
Fast forward three years, and I found myself in Geneva, working in the corporate world as a sales consultant. This was a far cry from my childhood days when I dreamt of being an actress. Never one to back down from a challenge, I found joy in the PR side of my job because I could speak to others on the phone, learn assertive listening and how to use emotion to sell.
Craving more creative outlets, I took up improvisation classes and ran projects with my friends. One of the highlights was running and performing in three theatre shows in front of 900 people to raise money for children in Cambodia, where I played Mary, the maid, in La Cantatrice Chauve by Eugène Ionesco. This only reinforced my love for performing and connecting with audiences through performance.
…And continues in London and Ibiza
The next chapter of my life took me to London. I needed a break from the hectic corporate world. What better way to do so than studying in London? I wanted to sharpen my acting skills and explore a new path in entrepreneurship. London was a revelation. It offered a blend of challenges and opportunities, pushing me to discover my voice in a new language and explore my passion for theatre.
Yet, after almost three years in London, I needed to go back to nature. That was a body, mind and soul calling. So, I went to live in Ibiza, where I had the chance to explore my personal growth, mindset, mindfulness, spirituality, wisdom and health. This is when I started my company, Alphazenitude.
Why I launched Alphazenitude’s public speaking courses
The idea for Alphazenitude sprouted from a desire for freedom. I’d never enjoyed ‘normal’ jobs and saw my dad and brother enjoying a more fexible lifestyle, where they chose where they worked and what they worked on. I was excited by the idea of working on my own creation, which was aligned with my goals, and enjoying the greater creative fow. I knew I wanted this for myself, but how?
Launching my own business was a leap into the unknown. First, I had to answer that BIG question: What is my purpose? I’d worked under many titles over the years — health coach, meditation coach, model, sales consultant, actress — but nothing felt right to me.
By embracing the journey of entrepreneurship with all its ups and downs, I found the path for me. I’d overcome health battles and career challenges and could use these experiences to succeed as a motivational speaker. I found so much pleasure in connecting with others and had a story of resilience to tell. Finally, a meaningful career path appeared before me: public speaking and mindset coaching.
Infuenced by the learnings I’d gleaned in the serene landscapes of Ibiza, I opened my company, Alphazenitude, in January 2022. A destination for motivational support and public speaking courses, the name is inspired by ‘Alpha’ brain waves — which represent creativity — and ‘Zenitude’ — the state of calm inspired by Buddist meditation. I started coaching friends and family before taking on new clients, focusing on health and well-being. And the rest, as they say, is history.
Yet, there’s always room for development. In 2023, I began working with Toastmasters, attending weekly sessions where we practised delivering speeches, and even recently participated in a contest as an evaluator. I love learning so much that I enrolled in a course at the Royal Central School of Speech and Drama, hoping to develop my professional voice and my pitch, finding more empowerment through my speech. While I admittedly had imposter syndrome at first, I’ve overcome this and have enjoyed getting to play with my voice and develop my storytelling skills.
How I started The Nudist Pod
Ibiza also inspired the creation of The Nudist Pod, a podcast aimed at fostering genuine connections through unfltered (A.K.A., nude) conversations.
The Nudist Pod was born from a conversation I had with my friend. We were wondering how interviewing someone totally nude would affect the conversation. Would people close up or be more vulnerable? While I don’t interview my guests totally naked (yet — there’s always time to explore that), I do encourage them to remove their barriers and talk while I truly listen.
Since its launch, I’ve had the pleasure of interviewing remarkable individuals like Leanna King, founder of Novo, and Simon Alexander Ong, a well-known life coach and author of Energize: Make the Most of Every Moment. The Nudist Pod has become a space for genuine connection, where guests and listeners can explore their depths of self in an accepting environment. Each episode is a journey into the heart of what it means to be human, with all its complexities and beauty.
